Vintage Finds

The vintage products that help define the eras we loved to live!

This page features information on some of the most interesting vintage consumer products and antiques I've discovered so far as a new collector.  Each item has stood the test of time to be a cherished addition to any collection.  That is why I personally like old junk.  The carefully curated collection of vintage consumer finds and facts can only be found here.  It includes a variety of different products from different eras and genres.  These are the brands that were a part of our every day lives.  Whether it's the pink toilet paper from the 80's or your favorite soda as a kid these products have been a part of our journey.  Check out some of the most valuable and sought after products collectors are looking to find.

Classic tools and hardware

Over the past year we discovered an online institute for the budding Antique Appraiser,  This e course has allowed me to expand my knowledge in the world of antiques. It's convenient, I work part time exclusively online towards a certification as a professional fully accredited antique appraiser.  No pressure. This is an online course for any one. When asked what I like about the course... it is really cool basically!

Antique toys

I love to build! Anything from 3D wooden puzzles, engine model kits, model car kits and of course LEGO.  Thrift shops are a great place to find vintage Lego.   A few  great finds for me have been mini figures from the 70's, and an unopened Lego Technic set from 1998.  There is a Lego store in Grimsby, Ontario that sells Lego buy the bag, a fun place to shop called Brickshack.

Vintage Consumer Products

This Hubba Bubba Pop Can from 1988 is one of the rarest,  pop cans sought after by collectors currently.  Depending on the condition this can can fetch between 200 - 1000 per can.  Only a few have stood the test of time, so if you ever find one of these collectibles be sure to pick it up.

If you have an appreciation for those colorful soda cans that have been a sugary treat for decades then the can museum is for you!  I recently submitted a picture of a Sprite Ice can circa 2003 from my personal collection that got accepted into this collection  of rare vintage pop cans.   Its a museum you can peruse from the convenience of your phone.

The Worlds Smallest Car

The Peel P50 is the worlds smallest car!  Ripley's Believe It Or Not, Niagara Falls Canada!

A Personal Goal...

I'd like to rebuild an old Ford Model A one day.  Although old, parts are not that difficult to find.

When looking for an old car to restore some good advice I received was to look for something with as little rust as possible.  Body work such as painting, sanding, and replacing is specialty work that is not easy to do on your own.  Below is a recent ad posted on Kijiji for a Ford Model A.

My Grandpa's Junk

This is a 1972 E Type Jaguar in British Racing Green.  Going to classic car shows is a summer thing we do together.

Fun Fact:  The creators of the James Bond approached Jaguar to feature their car in their movie.  Jaguar turned them down so they chose to use Aston Martin instead.

POP CAN FACT

Soda cans made before 2007 were not true cylinders but actually a tetraconpentagon  - which is a 45 sided polygon.

History still speaks.
